Alphen aan den Rijn
Geothermal energy can provide a stable and sustainable source of heat for future district heating in Alphen aan de Rijn.At the end of 2025, the Municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn was granted a Geothermal Exploration Area Allocation.
In February 2026, the municipality and Energie Beheer Nederland signed a cooperation agreement. Together, we are exploring the opportunities to develop geothermal energy sources in the municipality.
