EBN presents international infographic on energy

News

The new infographic ‘Energy Worldwide Facts & Figures’, created by Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) on the occasion of the World Energy Congress, was handed over to Minister Rob Jetten for Energy and Climate on the opening day of the WEC. This was done by EBN’s CEO, Jan Willem van Hoogstraten, and Silke van Klaveren, Young Professional and Advisor Sustainable Gases and Storage at EBN, who was closely involved in the creation of the infographic.

Global energy landscape

The international infographic provides an in-depth overview of the global energy landscape, including information on energy sources, sustainability, and emissions worldwide. It includes details on the diversity of energy sources per continent and trends in energy consumption and emissions. Additionally, it emphasizes Europe’s dependence on external energy sources, along with the challenges and opportunities associated with the application, extraction, and processing of critical metals.

Challenges

Jan Willem van Hoogstraten: “This international infographic is a beautiful and logical follow-up of the national version that we have been developing for eight years and which has now become a fixture in the energy sector. It is important that the dialogue on energy transition, both nationally and internationally, is based on the right facts and figures. We aim to create a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the energy transition.”

Rob Jetten: “I am a big supporter of EBN’s infographics. They clearly and succinctly present the facts and thereby outline our challenges in transitioning to a sustainable system. This international version takes that to a global level. For me, it is a numerical confirmation that we still have an incredible amount of work to do together to achieve that sustainable system.”
