EBN supports the growth of geothermal energy by developing, sharing and preserving knowledge. Together with our partners, we are helping to build a safe, affordable and mature geothermal sector that can provide sustainable heat for the Netherlands.
Geothermal Knowledge Programme
Through the Geothermal Knowledge Programme, EBN fulfils its knowledge role under the Dutch Mining Act 2023. The programme is led by a team of dedicated internal experts and is structured around five key programme areas.
Research and Innovation
EBN also contributes to research and innovation by participating in sector-wide initiatives. By increasing our understanding of the subsurface and advancing geothermal technologies, we help make geothermal energy more affordable while maintaining a strong focus on safety and reliability.
SCAN Programme
Through seismic surveys, exploratory drilling and the reprocessing of existing subsurface data, EBN, together with partners such as TNO, is helping to close knowledge gaps about the geothermal potential of the Dutch deep subsurface.
