Seismic Characterization of Vlieland Sandstones in the Broad Fourteen Basin

Understanding the spatial distribution of the Vlieland Sandstone Formation, which is part of the Lower Cretaceous Vlieland Subgroup, is of increasing relevance due to subsurface storage needs for CO2 and hydrogen. The Top Vlieland Sandstone seismic character proved highly variable, limiting its traceability, especially across faults. Given these challenges, an empirical relationship between well top thickness of Vlieland Sandstone and the total Vlieland Subgroup was established (R2 = 0.88).
