Presentations ESP Workshop
There is a growing need among Dutch geothermal operators for more insight and practical tools to extend the lifespan of Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) and reduce the associated costs. To address this, EBN and Geothermie Nederland organized this workshop with presentations on ESPs in geothermal applications deeper than 500 meters. During the interactive program, experts from the Netherlands and Germany shared practical experiences, challenges, and solutions. The workshop targeted a technical audience of engineers from operators and contractors and other ESP specialists.

He provides an overview of ESP as the most commonly used artificial lift method and highlights current shortcomings (such as lifetime, monitoring, and costs). The presentation includes updates from the German ANtLiA project that focusses on data collection to improve geothermal projects.

He analyzes the lifecycle of an ESP, from early failures to wear-out. The presentation also covers technological developments addressing corrosion, erosion, high temperatures, and efficiency improvements.
