Who is EBN

Human resources

EBN’s key HR policy is to retain staff by keeping them motivated. We offer varied and challenging work in a horizontal organisation, along with flexible working hours and remuneration and wide-ranging opportunities for personal development. Employees are assessed on their performance and on how they develop their competencies. EBN’s core competencies are responsibility, cooperation and result-orientation.

EBN offers a good, competitive package of compensation and benefits, including salaries in line with the market and a bonus scheme, 42 days of annual leave, the possibility of flexible working hours and ample development and training opportunities.

EBN currently has offices in two locations, Utrecht and Heerlen. Originally, when it was still part of DSM, EBN operated solely from Heerlen. In late 2005 an office in Utrecht was opened, ahead of the planned independence of EBN. In early 2008, EBN moved into new premises close to Utrecht central station. The new office has a bright, open atmosphere, fully consistent with EBN’s organisational philosophy.

In 2006 it was decided to concentrate all the activities in Utrecht, essentially because Utrecht’s central location is more beneficial in terms of the physical distance to EBN’s stakeholders and its position in the labour market. The decision to leave Heerlen has had far-reaching consequences for the organisation and many employees. The Heerlen office will close at the end of 2010. Some Heerlen staff members will then retire, while others will relocate to Utrecht. A few employees have opted to remain in Limburg and, in close consultation with these employees, EBN is looking for alternative employment for them either at DSM or elsewhere. It is important, both for the organisation and its employees, for the relocation to be properly planned and carried out with care.

People at EBN

At the end of 2009, EBN had 79 employees (71 FTE). As a result of large numbers of young employees joining, the average age of employees had fallen to 44 by the end of 2009. We expect to continue expanding our work force and reducing the average age over the coming year.

Over 50% of EBN’s employees are university graduates. Most others have intermediate (MBO) or higher-level qualifications (HBO). At the end of 2009, EBN had 25 female employees, including two in the management group. We are seeking to recruit more women.
