    Schoonebeek

Schoonebeek, still one of the biggest onshore oil fields of Europe, is a good example for renewed perspectives due to improved techniques. After 15 years the NAM restarted their oil production because improved techniques made oil production economically viable again.

    Bergermeer gas storage

The Dutch government has expressed the ambition to become the gas roundabout for North-West Europe. Sufficient storage capacity is essential in order to realise this goal. Due to the gradual decrease in pressure in the Groningen gas field, measures will also need to be taken to ensure enough natural gas can be supplied even during peak demand.

    Q16-Maas field

In order to spare the Groningen field, the aim of the Dutch government and EBN is to produce as much gas as possible from the small fields. The development of the Q16-Maas gas field is an excellent example of successful exploitation of a small gas field.

    Norg gas storage

The Groningen gas field has played an important part in the Dutch gas supply since the 1960s. Due to a gradual decrease in pressure in this gas field, measures needed to be taken to ensure enough natural gas can be supplied even during peak demand. This is why underground gas storage systems ,such as Norg in Langelo, have been constructed.

    Noord-Brabant

In 2009, Brabant Resources, a subsidiary of Cuadrilla Resources Nederland, received a permit from the Dutch Ministry for Economic Affairs for the exploitation of shale gas in Noord-Brabant. Shale gas is natural gas that is trapped in between deep layers of shale.

40-50% participation in Dutch E&P

In total EBN works with partners in:
  • 27 production licences onshore
  • 101 production licences offshore
  • 5 exploration licences onshore
  • 43 exploration licences onshore
The percentage shareholding in the participations in exploration and production varies from 40% to 50%.

EBN also participates in:
  • 4 offshore pipelines
  • The Emmen gas purification installation
  • Gas treatment installation K13 Den Helder
  • 4 facilities for subsurface storage of natural gas

Important participation: The Groningen Partnership

The most important participation is the Groningen partnership. In addition, EBN also has a 40% shareholding in GasTerra B.V., a 45% shareholding in NOGAT B.V. and a number of smaller shareholdings, including the 12% shareholding in the NGT Extension.

Turnover realised entirely in the Netherlands

EBN has as main activity the exploration and production of natural gas and oil. EBN also focuses on complementary activities which are in line with our goal to make optimal use of the Dutch subsoil. An example is investing in gas storage facilities. The entire turnover from EBN's activities are realised in the Netherlands. Other activities in which EBN participates are also carried out in the Netherlands.

Medway
To make optimal use of the existing offshore infrastructure, EBN tries to stimulate cooperation between operators. By making use of the existing infrastructure of Wintershall, Dana Petroleum has been able to bring the Van Ghendt oil and gas field and the Van Nes gas field to production.
